After an acclaimed run at the Theatre Royal in Bath, George Bernard Shaw's class-based classic is brought to London's Old Vic Theatre this summer by Peter Hall.
Pygmalion is a classic play by George Bernard Shaw based on Ovid's tale of Pygmalion. Pymalion tells the story of Henry Higgins (Tim Pigott-Smith), an arrogant professor of phonetics who makes a bet with his friend Colonel Pickering that he can successfully turn a Cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle (new talent Michelle Dockery), into a refined society lady by teaching her how to speak with an upper class accent and training her in etiquette.
Tim Pigott-Smith returns to The Old Vic Theatre stage for the first time since 1998 (The Iceman Cometh).
