"Brilliant. Cabaret increasingly looks one of the defining musicals of the postwar era"
The Guardian
"Rufus Norris' production is the most stunningly fresh and imaginative revival of a classic musical that I have ever seen. A musical masterpiece rediscovered in a masterpiece of a production"
The Independent
Stunning. Nothing will prepare you for the raw overwhelming power. A fearless, frank production that magnificently renews a thrilling musical"
The Sunday Express
"Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome, in cabaret, au cabaret, to cabaret!"
Cabaret finally returns to the London stage at the Lyric Theatre in a major new West End production
Kander and Ebb's remarkable musical turns the pre-war Berlin of 1931 into a dark and sexually charged haven of decadence, its extraordinary and morally ambiguous inhabitants determined to keep up appearances as the real world - the world outside the comfortable sanctuary of the cabaret - prepares for the nightmarish chaos of war. Its stage and screen awards include 8 Oscars, 7 BAFTA's and 13 Tony Awards.
Join the legendary Sally Bowles live at the Kit Kat Klub: "a shimmering masterpiece of a show guaranteed night after night! It's divine decadence darling!"
The cast includes Anna Maxwell Martin (Sally Bowles), James Dreyfus (Emcee), Sheila Hancock (Fraulein Schneider) and Michael Hayden (Clifford Bradshaw) and is directed by Rufus Norris.
Please note: This production of Cabaret is recommended as suitable for over 12s, subject to parental/teacher guidance, as the subject matter deals with adult themes and the staging includes some brief moments of nudity.

Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Theatre is the oldest surviving of all the theatres currently on Shaftesbury Avenue. The foyers and bar areas were completely redecorated in 1932/33 while the exterior was restored in 1994.

The Lyric Theatre initially staged mostly light operattas when it first opened before subsquently staging light comedies and straight drama. In 1950 Andre Roussin's "The Little Hut" run for 1,261 performances with Robert Morley in the first cast. 1972 saw Alan Ayckbourn's "How the Other Half Loves" run for 869 performances. More recently "Five Guys Named Moe", a musical based on the songs of Louis Jordan, had a very successful run here, opening 14 December 1990 and running until 4 March 1995.
